Cluster — 24-hour response

Furniture inspection & supplier verification in Delhi NCR

Upholstery, mixed-material production and the largest concentration of furniture manufacturers, export houses and trading offices in the country. It is also the cluster with the most intermediaries per square kilometre — which is why almost every NCR engagement starts by establishing who you are actually buying from.

What Delhi NCR makes, and why buyers source here

The NCR belt — Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad — is where India makes the furniture the wood clusters do not. Upholstered seating, mixed-material pieces and finished ranges assembled from several suppliers all come out of this belt, and the export houses here can put a whole programme in one container.

That breadth is the reason to buy here and the reason to check. NCR mixes genuine manufacturers with a dense layer of export houses and trading offices, so the name on your proforma invoice is frequently not the name on the building where your order is built. It is the cluster where knowing exactly who you are dealing with matters most, and where our verification workload is heaviest.

Upholstered seating & sofasThe cluster's speciality — and the only furniture category with a destination-market fire gate to clear
Mixed-material furnitureWood combined with metal, glass, stone and cane in one piece, and often one order
Export-house programmesMulti-supplier ranges consolidated under a single exporter and a single container

The four Delhi NCR risks we inspect for

Every cluster fails in its own way. Jodhpur's failures are about wood and weather; NCR's are about who built it, what went into it, and whose goods ended up in your container.

RISK NCR-1 · IDENTITY

The office that presents as a factory

NCR has more trading offices per square kilometre than anywhere in the trade. A registered company with a real GST number, a convincing profile and no machinery can take your deposit and subcontract the entire order to a unit you will never see. Verification is not due diligence theatre here; it is step zero.

CAUGHT AT: VERIFICATION V-04 PREMISES VISIT + V-05 MANUFACTURER VS TRADER
RISK NCR-2 · SUBSTITUTION

Certified component, uncertified run

The single biggest compliance risk on upholstery. A supplier tests one foam and one cover fabric, then buys different stock mid-run because the certified batch ran out or cost more. The certificate on file is genuine; the sofa in the container is not the sofa that was tested. Paperwork cannot catch this — only somebody standing in the factory while it is being built.

CAUGHT AT: DUPRO + PSI C-10 MARKS & LABELS + AUDIT A-08 COMPLIANCE READINESS
RISK NCR-3 · CONSOLIDATION

One container, several factories

Export houses build a container from multiple sources, which means the tally that matters is per factory, not per container. Counted only at the door against the supplier's own packing list, a short or mixed load is discovered at destination — where it becomes a credit-note argument with a supplier who has already been paid.

CAUGHT AT: CLS L-05 CARTON TALLY + L-11 LOAD PLAN AS EXECUTED
RISK NCR-4 · SUBCONTRACTING

Upholstery leaves the building

Frame-making, foam cutting and covering are routinely split across units, and upholstery is one of the processes most often sent out. Every hand-off is a point where a specified component can quietly become an available one, and quality control ends at the factory gate unless somebody has mapped where the work actually happens.

CAUGHT AT: VERIFICATION V-07 SUBCONTRACTING EXPOSURE + AUDIT A-06 SUBCONTRACTING MAP

Upholstery is the reason to inspect during production, not after

A wooden table can be judged when it is finished. An upholstered sofa cannot: once the cover is on, the foam inside it is a matter of trust. Destination markets add a second layer — furniture sold in the UK has to meet the UK's furniture fire safety regulations and carry the required permanent labelling, and what is tested has to be what is actually built. The rules, and where they currently stand, are set out in our UK market guide.

What we can verify on the ground is the part that goes wrong: that the certification on file traces to the batch of foam and cover fabric actually in production, that the required labels are physically present, permanent and correctly worded, and that no component has been substituted since you approved the sample. That is a during-production job. A pre-shipment inspection on a finished, covered sofa can confirm the label and the workmanship, but it cannot un-upholster the piece to find out what went in.

Guidance for buyers, not legal advice. Fire-safety requirements and their labelling rules change; confirm your position against current OPSS guidance and your own counsel before you order.

How Qualis covers Delhi NCR

We are based in Jodhpur, so NCR runs on a 24-hour response — a planned visit by an inspector on the ground, not a remote sign-off.

Five things to know before ordering in Delhi NCR

TIP 01

Verify before the deposit, not after the sample

An approved sample proves someone can build one. It does not prove your supplier owns a factory. An unannounced premises visit and a manufacturer-versus-trader verdict cost a fraction of the deposit they protect.

TIP 02

Name the manufacturing site in the PO

Not just the exporter. If the goods are built somewhere else, you want that address written down before production starts, so an inspector can be sent to the right building.

TIP 03

Specify upholstery by certificate, and require the batch to match

Name the foam and the cover fabric with their certification, and make it a condition that the batch in production is the batch that was tested. Then book a during-production visit to check it while the frame is still open.

TIP 04

On consolidated containers, demand a per-factory tally

One export house, several sources, one container. Counting against the supplier's packing list at the door tells you the load is full, not that it is yours.

TIP 05

Check the bank account against the legal entity

The wire-fraud check. If the account name does not match the registered company on the quote, stop — that mismatch is a verification finding in its own right, and it is the cheapest one we ever report.

Delhi NCR inspection FAQ

Do you cover Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad as well as Delhi?

Yes — the whole NCR belt. Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad are covered as one cluster on a 24-hour response, and a single engagement can take in more than one site if your order is split across them.

How fast can you get to an NCR factory?

Within 24 hours of booking. We are based in Jodhpur, so NCR is a planned visit rather than the same-day availability we offer in Jodhpur and Jaipur — an inspector travels to the site, which is also what makes an unannounced verification visit possible.

Why does supplier verification matter more in Delhi NCR?

Because the belt has the densest concentration of export houses and trading offices in the country. A great many NCR "manufacturers" are intermediaries, which is fine if you know it and expensive if you do not. Verification establishes whether there is a factory behind the name, what it can actually build, and which processes leave the building.

Can you check fire labelling on UK-bound upholstered furniture?

We verify the product side on the ground: that the required labels are physically present, permanent and correctly worded, that the certification on file traces to the batch of foam and cover fabric actually in production, and that nothing has been substituted since you approved the sample. We are not a testing laboratory and we do not issue fire certificates. The regulatory position is summarised in our UK market guide.

Can you supervise a container consolidated from several NCR factories?

Yes. Consolidated loading is standard here, and container loading supervision runs a per-factory tally so you can see which supplier's goods actually went in, alongside the usual condition, dunnage, weather-hold and seal checks.

Where Delhi NCR containers land. The same goods fail differently by destination — climate sets the moisture specification and the market sets the paperwork. Read the guide for the UK, the USA, UAE & GCC and Saudi Arabia, or the full set of ten market guides.
