Five things to know before ordering from Jodhpur
Put moisture in the contract, not the conversation
Specify a number — e.g. "≤10% at PSI, pin-meter, core reading" — in the PO. "Properly seasoned wood" is not a specification; it's a hope.
Approve a golden sample, then freeze it
For hand finishes, agree an acceptable-variation range against a physical sample we hold photos of. Distressed finishes without a reference standard are unarbitratable.
Ask where the carving actually happens
Assume subcontracting until proven otherwise, and price it into your inspection plan — a DUPRO visit catches component problems before assembly hides them.
Respect the calendar
A vessel date in August is a moisture bet. If you must ship in monsoon, budget for PSI + CLS together and slightly longer lead times.
Tie the balance payment to the inspection
The clause that changes behaviour: "Balance payable against passed pre-shipment inspection report." Factories plan quality differently when the report is the payment trigger.
