Faulty built-in light fitting
A light fitted badly in a bar or display cabinet: loose, misaligned or not working, found only when it is switched on.
Why it happens
Lights are fitted at the end of the line, after finishing, often by a different worker or supplier, and are rarely tested before packing.
A fitting that is not seated, or a cable pinched by a door or shelf, shows only when the unit is switched on.
Sample report 06 (Jodhpur, January 2023) found a light fitting that was not right on a bar cabinet; the factory opened all ten units and corrected them on site.
How to specify against it
A defect you can name in the purchase order is a defect an inspector can fail the shipment on. One you only describe in an email is not.
- The light, driver, switch, cable and plug type for the destination, and the electrical approval your market needs.
- That every lit unit is switched on with the destination plug at inspection.
- A re-check of corrected units when fittings are fixed on site.
The inspection point
Each of these is a numbered check on a published scope, so you can see exactly which visit finds this and when.
